Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon says Roma “have a great Coach, great players and don’t lack anything to win the Scudetto”.

The Bianconeri meet with Luciano Spalletti’s side at Juventus Stadium on Saturday night, with the capital club having the opportunity to cut the gap at the top to just one point.

“Roma and Napoli, along with Juve, are the teams which have brought some very nice sporting duels in recent years,” Buffon said in an interview with Sky.

“That means that the progress of these teams is significant, and I’m talking about Roma and Napoli, their projects are proving to be successful, or at least bringing good results.

“That’s why both teams have consistently been in second or third place.

“So for me it’s not a surprise, and indeed it’s a surprise to me whenever Roma slip-up or are stopped; because they’re a team who for many years have been very strong, very competitive.

“They have a great Coach, great players, a lot of experience and they don’t lack anything to try and win the Scudetto.”

Buffon is seen as one of calcio’s ‘living legends’, as is Giallorossi captain Francesco Totti.

“I’m lucky, because I play another role I’ve never had to ask anything or point anything out to Francesco. Clearly he’s a player who had the same class as when he started playing.

“In fact, in some facets I think he’s even improved or refined himself, if that’s even possible. He’s a reference point for his team and for the city of Rome.”
