Corriere dello Sport suggests that Gianluigi Buffon has received an incredibly lucrative contract offer from a Saudi Arabian club.

The 2006 World Cup winner is still plying his trade in Serie B, having returned to Parma in the summer of 2021. Last season, he made 19 appearances across all competitions.

The recent PIF investment in Saudi Arabian football has caused ripples across the European market, with a number of well-known players accepting lucrative offers from clubs like Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.

Page 21 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Buffon is the latest household name to be offered a rich contract from Saudi Arabia, worth around €30m net per season.

The 45-year-old Italian goalkeeper, who is contracted to Parma for another year, now has three options in front of home: continuing in Emilia-Romagna, retiring from football or accepting the Saudi offer.

Should Buffon accept, he’d be the second Italian to play in the Saudi Pro League after Sebastian Giovinco, who played for Al-Hilal from 2019 to 2021.
