Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Gianluigi Buffon won’t only be Italy’s delegation chief but will also serve as the Azzurri’s sporting director.

Buffon, Luciano Spalletti and FIGC President Gabriele Gravina will meet today at the first Club Italia summit.

As reported by Corriere Delo Sport, Buffon will be covering a new role starting today.

In fact, the legendary goalkeeper will serve as the Azzurri’s sporting director and not only the delegation chief.

Buffon met Gravina only a few days after Italy’s elimination from EURO 2024 at the beginning of July and agreed to remain involved in the project in a new role.

Gravina spoke to reporters on Monday, saying that coach Luciano Spalletti is the ‘most disappointed’ by the elimination in the EURO 2024 Round of 16.
