Gianluigi Buffon feels as young as ever after renewing his contract with Parma, with his new deal set to expire when he’ll be 46.
The 2006 World Cup winner returned to the Emilian side last summer after a 20-year absence, bringing his career full circle following successful spells with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. He is Parma’s number one and has appeared consistently this season, performing incredibly well despite his age.
Writing on his Twitter after his renewal, Buffon commented on the new deal and highlighted how young he still feels.
“Today is a good day for me and for all my family. I have renewed my contract with Parma until 2024. A few months ago I came back here because of the deep bond I’ve always had with the city and the people. Now this bond is even stronger.
“I believed in the project of the president and this new club from the beginning, that’s why I was convinced I could give my contribution and I want to continue to give it for the next years.
“I hope the fans and the city are happy, as are my children. Today all four of them were with me: thanks to them, but especially to Ilaria, I never feel the weight of age! Only fresh energy, positive energy and beautiful dreams to realise together!”
The 43-year-old Buffon has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2001 minutes. In that time, he’s conceded 23 goals and kept eight clean sheets.
The Italian shot stopper made 685 total appearances for Juventus in his career, keeping 322 clean sheets as he proved himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

He should stop being ridiculous and quit
@Justaperson- why is wanting to keep playing ridiculous? Should players be forced to retire against their will at age 40? What’s your problem? Buffon can do what he wants
Old man need to stop, its getting really shameful at this point. He is ruining his legacy like Pele with his unshuttable mouth.
Parma won’t find a better keeper even when Buffon is 60. Legend. If he feels he can play, he can play.
@PENALDO
You really don’t think he should let younger players get the chance?
@justaperson, @dollarumma really just stop. That isn’t nice. He is a person and a legend. Would you like to be treated and gossiped about like that?
