Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon names his save from Filippo Inzaghi’s header in the Champions League final as perhaps his best.

The Italy captain has played over 1000 professional games, and he looked back on his career in a Q&A session on Facebook today.

“Which saves do I remember?” Buffon considered.

“The one from Inzaghi with a header, the one against Lyon from close range last season. I had a nice one against Newcastle [United] too which came to mind.

“Which saves do I remember?” Buffon considered.

“The one from Inzaghi with a header, the one against Lyon from close range last season. I had a nice one against Newcastle [United] too which came to mind.

“When I stop I’ll watch all my matches again.

“Clean sheets? I remember my debut in the Champions League against Sparta Prague, and one of the last ones which really made me happy was against Lyon last year where we managed to win 1-0.

“I remember playing in the Champions League when it was a new competition, because it was the first year that the second-placed teams also got access through a play-off.

“We at Parma drew a very important team [Lodz] from a historic nation with great football tradition. There was a lot of tension for us in that play-off, because it was a new experience.”

Buffon was also asked about his favourite matches from his long career.

“My favourite moment is the beginning and the end, they mark important steps. At the start you’re experiencing new emotions, becoming what you are after so many sacrifices as a kid.

“At the end you can look back and see how far you’ve come.

“My favourite game? Germany-Italy in the 2006 World Cup without a doubt, and Juve-Real Madrid in 2003 which gave us incredible emotions.

“Then of course there was my debut with Milan.”
