Gianluigi Buffon believes his Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappé deserves the Ballon d’Or – “he’s a phenomenon”.
The 19-year-old helped France to World Cup glory in Russia this summer, and the Italy legend has been impressed with the forward since moving to Ligue 1 this summer.
“Mbappé is a phenomenon,” Buffon told Tout Le Sport.
“If he keeps wanting to be the best, if he retains his enthusiasm and continues to behave normally, then he can become that and stay the best for a long time.

“For his qualities, what he does on the pitch and how decisive he was at the World Cup he deserves it [the Ballon d’Or]. I can’t say the opposite.”
