Buffon is in the starting XI at Marassi, as Wojciech Szczesny has a muscle issue in his chest.

It is his 647th official match in Serie A, allowing him to equal the all-time league record set by Milan legend Paolo Maldini.

Buffon made his Serie A debut in Parma’s 0-0 draw against Milan on November 19, 1995, aged 17 years, nine months and 22 days.

He has kept 296 clean sheets and conceded 523 goals.

That’s not the only record, because Buffon also today makes his 479th Serie A appearance in a Juventus jersey, surpassing Alessandro Del Piero on 478 as the most present Bianconeri player in the history of the top flight.

Buffon has played 908 competitive games at club level for Parma, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain with 407 clean sheets, conceding 759 goals, and was sent off five times.
