Reports over recent weeks had suggested that the veteran would soon put pen to paper on a contract extension in Turin.

His agent, Silvano Martina, has however underlined that nothing has been agreed. “We still haven’t spoken to the club yet,” he commented.

The 34-year-old Buffon is currently only committed to the Old Lady until June 2013, but both parties have intimated that they want to extend their relationship.

The former Parma ‘keeper, signed at a cost of £32m in 2001, will allegedly put pen to paper on a three-year agreement.

The Genoa fan, who currently earns €6m a season after tax, is set to accept a cut in salary in exchange for new terms.
