Gigi Buffon lifted the seventh Italian Super Cup for Juventus and felt they “changed at the right time.”

Many expected the Bianconeri to struggle after releasing Carlos Tevez, Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, but new buys Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala scored in today’s 2-0 win over Lazio.

“We changed three fundamental figures like Andrea, Arturo and Carlos, so a small price has to be paid for that,” Buffon said in his Press conference.

“However, if there was a moment when the team had to be renewed and risks taken, then this was it. We laid the foundations to win many more times over the years.

“If we were to lack the desire to win, then it would be a huge mistake on our part and ensure we’d never be top again.

“We must always have this mentality and approach. It was not an easy game against an excellent Lazio side, who are well organised and started training 10 days earlier than we did.

“We did well to have patience and keep the tempo slow in certain moments, so we could have more energy over the 90 minutes.”
