The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper hasn’t played for the Azzurri since the friendlies during Luigi Di Biagio’s caretaker reign, but some have suggested he could return for Euro 2020.

“I spoke with Mancio, they don’t need me,” Buffon told Corriere della Sera.

“I spoke with Mancio, they don’t need me,” Buffon told Corriere della Sera.

“Mancini knows the right route to take, I don’t know the FIGC President. I’m delighted that Chiello [Giorgio Chiellini] has inherited my armband with both Italy and Juventus, because he’s a man and player who deserves that kind of responsibility.

“Gigio [Donnarumma] is a symbol of the consistency and goodness of the project which is aimed at preparing the youngest players for the next tournament.

“I also think, if they were to start playing, that [Mattia] Perin, [Alessio] Cragno and [Salvatore] Sirigu would give absolute guarantees.”
