Gigi Buffon hopes Paulo Dybala won’t miss out on the World Cup and believes Juventus should trust Max Allegri.

The legendary goalkeeper spoke during the Premi Scopigno e Pulici in Rome today.

Juventus fans and media have criticised Max Allegri after a poor start to the season in Serie A and Champions League, but Buffon believes the Old Lady should trust the coach.

“Juventus are having some problems, but a lot depends on the injuries, as Allegri said.

“I’m confident Allegri will solve the situation and that the guys will take the satisfaction they deserve.”

Buffon is one of Juventus’ most iconic players and holds the record for the most Serie A titles won at the club, 10, including five under Allegri.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner played 168 games under the Italian tactician keeping 88 clean sheets.

One of Buffon’s former teammates, Dybala, joined Roma in the summer but could miss out on the World Cup after sustaining a suspected quadriceps injury against Lecce yesterday.

“I can only compliment him for what he is doing. Nobody has doubts about his qualities. He needed a new challenge and picked an exciting one at Roma. He is pleased about what he is doing and I hope he won’t miss the World Cup,” said Buffon.

Buffon also praised PSG goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma saying that he is the ‘best goalkeeper’ to replace him between the sticks for the Azzurri.
