Gianluigi Buffon says many things have changed at Juventus, so he can’t judge what happened with Paul Pogba and Leonardo Bonucci, but he believes the Bianconeri are credible Serie A title contenders.
Italy’s new delegation chief spoke to DAZN on Monday night, about the Serie A campaign and the upcoming Champions League fixtures.
“It’s a little more balanced this season. With many players off to Saudi Arabia, European football is a little bit poorer technically, but it seems a bit more balanced overall,” argued the ex-goalkeeper.
“When Inter or Milan are on their day, they can beat anyone, even Manchester City or Real Madrid.”
How about Juventus? Can they aim to win the Scudetto in 2023-24?
“I think they could compete for the title even last season, but then there were issues that made it impossible,” he said.
“They don’t have European competitions this season and I don’t see many teams as competitive as Juventus. Inter surely have more quality, but the Nerazzurri have other competitions too.”
Talking about the recent issues involving Bonucci and Pogba, Buffon said: “There is something going on every week, so we don’t get bored, but the only way to end controversy is to get results.
“There isn’t much I can say. I am sorry because I know them well and I know Juventus. Aside from the coach and a few other figures, many things have changed at Juventus, so I do not dare to judge. You must know things well before talking.”
