Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has backed new signing Gonzalo Higuain to thrive at the club.

The Argentine forward recently arrived in Turin from Napoli for a fee of €90m, the third highest in history.

During an interview with Sky Sport, Old Lady legend Buffon outlined the attributes he believes will make the 28-year-old a big hit at Juventus Stadium.

“Higuain? He could count for a lot,” Buffon remarked. “I think this because of his history as a player, the teams he has played for and the goals he has scored.

“The physical presence and the character are also there.”

The shot-stopper added the Juve’s new signings mean there is much room for improvement at the club, despite five successive Scudetto victories.

“However, there have also been other important players who have arrived. I think we can improve a lot.”
