Former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes Keylor Navas and Gigio Donnarumma will rotate in goal at Parc des Princes ‘according to their form’.

The Italy international Donnarumma moved to PSG this summer, as he joined the club on a free transfer when his contract at Milan expired in June.

Donnarumma was one of the protagonists when the Azzurri went all the way during the Euros, but has only played once in Ligue 1 as Mauricio Pochettino gave Navas the gloves in the four first games.

Donnarumma made his Ligue 1 debut in a 4-0 win over Clermont Foot and played in the World Cup Qualifiers with the Azzurri this month.

Buffon doesn’t think one of them must be the definite starter at PSG, as the French giants can make the competition between the two goalkeepers an advantage.

“If a team like PSG have two very strong goalkeepers, like they do, what’s the point of talking about a starter and a back-up? It wouldn’t be fair to the players,” Buffon told beIN Sports.

“It can be said, according to the state of form, I’d make one or the other play. When you have two strong goalkeepers, it’s a shame to have to choose one, it’s right that both of them have the same chances.”

  1. Thank Mino Raoila his agent for encouraging Gigi to go there. How much did Mino make on that deal? What does he really care if Gigi has to wait around a year or two splitting duties with Navas until either Navas leaves or he pushes for Gigi to move in a year or two to another club, and of course he’ll get another 10 or more million dollars commission.
