The news exploded on Tuesday night that Buffon was planning not just a comeback to Serie A and to Italy, but to Juve only one year after leaving for his Paris Saint-Germain adventure.
Sky Sport Italia broke the story that the 41-year-old was in advanced negotiations with the Bianconeri, where he’d play as Wojciech Szczesny’s understudy for one more season, then take on a role in Maurizio Sarri’s coaching staff or as a director.
“For now, it’s just an idea,” confessed agent Silvano Martina to Sportitalia.
It is nonetheless confirmation that the talks are on-going and it’d be a fitting end to his career after 17 years in Turin.
Buffon has also been linked with FC Porto, Parma, Brescia and Atalanta, while Leeds United always represented a rather improbable solution.
Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport note President Andrea Agnelli was personally behind the talks with Buffon, proposing a contract worth €4m per season that would then run on to a directorial or coaching role after 2020.
