The Euro 2016 qualifier at San Siro delayed for ten minutes as flares were launched onto the pitch from the Croatia section, with riot police being forced to enter the Croatian end to extinguish a small fire.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect this because Croatia were well received,” former Croatian international Budan lamented to Tuttomercatoweb.

“Relations between the two countries are excellent, and that won’t change between people in football, but maybe the Italians will now think ‘look at those gypsies’…

“I’m sorry, but the people who created chaos are not fans.

“They’re people who came to cause confusion, maybe mixing football with politics or other situations.

“I don’t think it would be right to fine Croatia, because then the 10 idiots who created this mess would win.

“I hope only those people are punished.”

Budan who has been in Italy since 1998, and is currently youth Coach at Spezia” data-scaytid=”11″>Spezia, also offered his opinions on Andrej Kramaric, who has been heavily linked with a move to San Siro, with Milan and Inter both reportedly interested.

“He’s at the beginning of a very good career. We’ve talked about him for months, 20 minutes [in last night’s game] won’t change the opinion of people who have followed him for months.

“He still needs to grow of course, but he’s a player I like and one who I think can be part of a big team.

“He has an eye for goal and real quality.

“It wouldn’t be logical to compare the Croatian League to the Italian one, but Croats who have come to Italy have often done well.”
