Former Palermo midfielder Bruno Henrique has received a one-year ban over a fake passport scandal and it’s expected to be valid even at Palmeiras.

The 28-year-old was only in Sicily for one season in 2016-17, arriving from Corinthians and moving back to Brazil with Palmeiras in June 2017.

He was later embroiled in a scandal over false documentation to get an Italian passport, something several players went through to have their non-EU status removed.

A statement from the Tribunale Federale Nazionale confirmed today that Bruno Henrique had been given a one-year ban due to the fake documentation.

It’s expected to be valid for all FIFA competition, so current club Palmeiras would not be able to play him either.
