Midfielder Marcelo Brozovic said ‘there’s no difference’ between Inter and Real Madrid after the 1-0 defeat on Wednesday night. ‘We could have won 3-0’.

The Croatian midfielder starred in the middle and his influence was mentioned by Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti after the match.

But Inter ultimately lost, as Rodrygo scored the winning goal after 89 minutes and Brozovic felt it could have been a completely different result.

“We played a great first half,” Brozovic told Amazon Prime Italia. “We could have won 3-0.

“There’s no difference between Inter and Real Madrid, but if you don’t score, you will lose the game in the end.”

Inter are third in Group D, as Roberto De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk started with a 2-0 defeat to FC Sheriff Tiraspol, who are first above Real Madrid on goal difference.

  1. Could have doesn’t mean a lot.
But it’s not a disaster yet, given the group they’re in. A defeat away to Shakhtar next will be, though.

  2. I love this type of stupid comment from players after losing. For some reason being a sore loser by making absurd excuses, blaming bad luck, and claiming to be the better team in defeat is prevalent and oddly acceptable in European football. If they could have won 3-0, then they would have. They couldn’t, and that’s why they lost 1-0.

  3. One of the most stupid comments ever…… You played at home and lost and you out there claiming you could have won 3 – 0…… You guys tired out in the second half and didn’t play well …… reason Inzaghi had to make lots of substitution early in the second half

  4. Courtois made some great saves it is true. Dzeko was an effective centre forward. The problem is the intensity became less in the second half – that could be because Madrid handled the game better, but Inter need to keep up the pressure when on top. They were unlucky and the score could have gone either way.

  5. Madrid scored from their single clear chance created just like Samp did last weekend. On the other hand Inter couldn’t finish up their clear chances again just like the last match. Real Madrid are still a big team and despite Inter playing a great first half it was finishing that made the difference.

  6. Brosovic’s comments are spot on, Inter proved that top Teams in Serie A can compete with anyone.
Yes they lost, had their chances and couldn’t finish but Ancelotti knows that RM happily escaped.
RM is still adjusting to a new coach and the loss of leader Ramos, still they are a top club that spends.
Inter is also adjusting to a new manager and miss Lukaku, do you think he could have made a difference? Still RM han problems all game with Inter’s defence until Inter lost concentration. There is no question that top Italian clubs are coming on, we’ll see if post covid finances will help.
Europe knows that the European League trophy resides in Rome.
