Marcelo Brozovic provided an update on his physical condition ahead of Croatia’s World Cup campaign in Qatar.

The 30-year-old Croatian midfielder suffered a hamstring injury whilst on international duty back in September, forcing him to miss five consecutive Serie A matches. Brozovic made a brief return to action in the final few games before the World Cup break, coming off the bench for Inter against Juventus, Bologna and Atalanta.

Speaking to Nova TV, Brozovic first discussed how he feels heading into the World Cup in Qatar.

“I feel good, I have been training well for the last two weeks. I entered the last three games 15 and 20 minutes each. I feel good and I hope to get better.”

He commented on his relationship with Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi ahead of their meeting in the tournament.

“I didn’t stay in touch with him after he left Inter. We only spoke a few times but he is playing very well in Paris, he is doing very well. He is a very fast and troublesome player, but I think we will prepare well for him.”

He was unsure what to think of group stage opponents Saudi Arabia.

“Honestly nothing, we haven’t had a chance to talk yet. We will have a meeting about them and I think we will be ready for that match.”

The 30-year-old commented on if there was a difference in attitude heading into this tournament compared to the 2018 edition in Russia.

“For me there is no difference. Our imperative is to escape the group and we will see. We must all give our all in every game, those who play, those who come in and those who are in the stands.

“If we give everything in every game, there will be no problems.”

He spoke about if Croatia were a more respected team now.

“I think so because they see that when we are all healthy and together, it is difficult to stop us.”

Finally, Brozovic touched on what would satisfy him at this World Cup.

“We are looking for a better finish than last time.”
