Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez are benched, but Juventus midfielder Leandro Paredes starts for Argentina with Inter’s Marcelo Brozovic and Atalanta’s Mario Pasalic for Croatia in the World Cup semi-final, officiated by Daniele Orsato.

It kicks off at 19.00 GMT.

The other semi-final is tomorrow evening between France and Morocco.

There is plenty of Serie A representation in both squads as they prepare to take to the field this evening, as well as on the pitch, because the referee is Italian Daniele Orsato and his VAR Massimiliano Irrati.

Juventus star Di Maria has been struggling with muscular problems and again is not considered fit enough to start, but his Bianconeri teammate Paredes does get the nod.

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez converted the decisive penalty in the shoot-out with the Netherlands, but he again is dropped in favour of Julian Alvarez.

Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuna are suspended.

As for Croatia, they start Inter midfielder Brozovic and Atalanta forward Pasalic, while Nikola Vlasic of Torino is on the bench.
