Marcelo Brozovic is reportedly at risk of missing Inter’s Serie A season opener against Lecce on the weekend.

The 29-year-old Croatian midfielder was forced to miss the pre-season friendly against Villarreal last week due to a muscle strain in his right calf, an issue that arose in a training session on Friday. It seemingly stems from a knock suffered in a joint training session with Pergolettese.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Inter are keeping a close eye on Brozovic’s condition and there’s concerns that he’ll be forced to miss the first game of the season against Lecce on August 13. He’ll work separately for three days and will not take part in the match against Sant’Angelo on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri don’t want to risk exacerbating the Croatian midfielder’s injury, especially considering they’ll be facing intercity rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on September 3. Brozovic plays a crucial role in Simone Inzaghi’s midfield and so the club will want him to recover without rushing.

  1. Definitely doesn’t have anything to do with the swap deal with Liverpool involving Naby Keita. Definitely doesn’t

  2. @gibbie you are right. It doesn’t.

There is zero chance of brozovic leaving inter. Especially for a turd like Keita.
