Milan are due to announce their Coach on July 1 and Cristian Brocchi is reportedly stepping aside for Marco Giampaolo.

The club has been in turmoil with several changes of management, most recently Sinisa Mihajlovic’s dismissal for Brocchi in April.

President Silvio Berlusconi reiterated he would keep Brocchi in charge, but is in the middle of takeover talks with a Chinese conglomerate.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Brocchi has decided he doesn’t want to be the cause of friction and will therefore pull out of the running for the job.

The former Primavera youth team boss is only under contract until June 30 anyway, but is ready to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

Brocchi apparently already has another offer on the table from Serie B side Brescia.

Ex-Empoli Coach Giampaolo is now the hot favourite to take over, although he too is not the star name the Chinese investors wanted.

As negotiations drag on, there is no more time to wait for a new tactician, so they could well go for Giampaolo anyway.

He was suggested as the ideal candidate by Milan legend Arrigo Sacchi and is also backed by CEO Adriano Galliani.
