Cristian Brocchi won’t criticise Milan as the club is “like a family to me”.

The former Rossoneri midfielder was appointed as Coach toward the end of last season, but wasn’t kept-on and he later joined Brescia.

“I’ve said a lot of things that people haven’t wanted to understand,” Bronchi lamented, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But Milan is a family to me and I’d rather not talk about it.

“The Coach is the one with responsibility, who is the first to pay if things go wrong. He’s the one who gives a team its identity and character.

“When you’re forced to retire through injury and not through choice it can be hard to accept and to digest. Fortunately I was asked to Coach the Milan Primavera, I loved it and I saw the potential for growth in the people around me.

“I tried to take the best from every Coach I had, but also the things I didn’t like which I now try not to repeat.

“The best? There are very good ones, like [Edy] Reja and [Carlo] Ancelotti but I’d say [Cesare] Prandelli.

“He gave me so much in terms of the tactical and moral approach, in preparing for the match and taking care of the details. I see myself in him.”

Brocchi was then asked about two of calcio's most controversial characters, having coached Mario Balotelli last year.

"I don't know Antonio Cassano, so I can't judge him. I'd take Mario, he's a good lad who is having a hard time.

"I wish I could have him with me."
