Brighton and Hove Albion already failed to convince Nico Gonzalez to join them several times, but are reportedly going to try again for the Fiorentina forward.

Their interest in the Argentina international goes back several years, to when he was still at VfB Stuttgart and made the move to Florence for €24.5m plus bonuses in the summer of 2021.

They tried again last summer, only for him to sign a new contract with the Viola that will run to June 2028.

However, Tuttosport claim the Seagulls are not giving up and will try once more at the end of this season, especially if Fiorentina fail to qualify for Europe.

Gonzalez turns 26 today and has struggled with injuries so far this term, still contributing 10 goals and four assists in 31 competitive games.

If he is to be sold, then his asking price would be in the region of €50m, which would make him a record signing for Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton.

Nico Gonzalez is primarily a right-sided winger, but can also play on the left or as an out and out striker.

He was forced to withdraw from Argentina’s 2022 World Cup squad due to injury.
