Brighton have reportedly reached an agreement with Fiorentina for the transfer of Brazilian defender Igor.

Tweeted by Fabrizio Romano on Friday evening, A deal is now in place between the two clubs worth €17m plus additional bonuses.

Romano claims that there has been a ‘verbal agreement’ and that Igor will put pen to paper on a four-year deal on the English South coast, running until the summer of 2027.

Igor’s current deal with Fiorentina is set to expire at the end of next season, with the club holding the option to extend that deal by a further year.

The 25-year-old originally joined La Viola on a two-year loan deal with the option to buy in January 2020, making 30 league appearances in his first year in Florence, before joining permanently the following summer.

Since the start of the 2021-22 season, he has gone on to make a further 77 appearances across all competitions, including 42 in the most recent campaign.

Whilst Fiorentina finished the 2022-23 Serie A season in eighth place, they were able to reach the finals of both the Coppa Italia and UEFA Conference League under Vincenzo Italiano.
