Marco Brescianini will have his Atalanta medical tomorrow after the move to Napoli sensationally collapsed, as Frosinone are set to split the €12m fee with Milan.
The midfielder had undergone his physical tests with the Partenopei this morning and it all seemed to be on track.
This was set to be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, turning into an obligation if certain conditions were met.
However, despite the medical showing no issues, Napoli suddenly tried to change the terms making it an obligation to buy and this irritated Frosinone.
Brescianini heading to Atalanta
Instead, they turned back to Atalanta, who had already been in the running for the player last week, and quickly agreed a deal with them for the €2m loan with €10m option to buy.
Half that sum will go to his former club Milan.
Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more all report Brescianini will undergo a whole different medical for Atalanta on Wednesday before signing the contracts.
It is not entirely clear what prompted the sudden turnaround, but it has been a bad few days for Napoli in general.
They also saw the sale of Jens Cajuste to Brentford collapse, while after Parma, now Cagliari are also backing off from Gianluca Gaetano.
