There are yet more problems for Atalanta, as Marco Brescianini limped off with a suspected thigh injury during tonight’s Serie A match against Bologna.

It was still goalless approaching half-time at the Stadio Dall’Ara when Brescianini tried to latch on to a pull-back from the by-line when he stumbled on the turf and went down clutching the back of his left thigh.

The former Frosinone midfielder tried to run it off for a few minutes, but was then forced to hobble off the pitch with that same injury.

Brescianini latest Atalanta setback

It was yet another blow for coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who was already forced to do without Isak Hien, Rafael Toloi, Giorgio Scalvini and Gianluca Scamacca, while Nicolò Zaniolo is not fully fit.

Even before tests, it seems unlikely that Brescianini will be fit enough to participate in the upcoming match.

Atalanta will be up against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday, a tie played on neutral turf in Gelsenkirchen.

They had opened their European campaign with a creditable 0-0 draw at home to Arsenal, but must start to pick up points.
