Giampaolo’s Brescia lost 2-1 at home to Crotone at the weekend, after which he held talks with a group representing the fans.
After five games, Brescia have six points thanks to one win, three draws and one loss.
“Brescia, taking into consideration the temporary absence from training of Coach Marco Giampaolo, have placed his assistants in charge of technical matters, in the hope that Giampaolo returns as soon as possible,” read a club statement.
“The club underline their total faith in the work of the Coach and the total satisfaction of the team, the President and all of the directors.”
The 46-year-old was only handed the job in the summer after struggling during spells with Cagliari, Siena, Catania and Cesena.
“I’m hopeful that Giampaolo will return,” added President Gino Corioni. “I want to hear what serious matter has occurred for him to react in this way.
“He’s not answering to anyone and I don’t know what is going on in his head right now. Perhaps he is a bit tired, but we will wait for him.
“We’ve contacted no other tacticians.”
Amid claims that Giampaolo won’t return, the outfit have been linked with former Italy Under-21 boss Devis Mangia and Carmine Gautieri.
