Fiorentina have reportedly received a second bid from Brentford for winger Nico Gonzalez according to an exclusive from Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday afternoon.

La Viola had turned down an initial proposal from the Premier League outfit earlier in August, which is thought to have come in just shy of the minimum €40m asking price.

Brentford’s new proposal exceeds that price point, believed to be somewhere in the region of €42m-€43m. Romano claims that the West Londoners have also offered Gonzalez a ‘huge’ wage packet.

The 25-year-old is under contract in Tuscany until the summer of 2026 and it is believed that Fiorentina do not want to let him leave unless a suitable replacement is lined up, which could be tricky at this stage of the transfer window.

Gonzalez and Fiorentina have also just got their 2023-24 campaign off to an emphatic start, currently leading the Serie A table after the first game thanks to a 4-1 away win over Genoa at the weekend.

Gonzalez grabbed the third for Vincenzo Italiano’s side just after 40 minutes. That was his 14th strike in 58 league matches for Fiorentina since joining from Stuttgart in the summer of 2021.
