Brentford are close to agreeing a deal with Bologna for exciting Scottish left back Aaron Hickey, who was also linked with a move to Arsenal.

The 20-year-old Scot had a great season in Italy under Sinisa Mihajlovic, making 36 Serie A appearances for a total of 2834 minutes. He scored five goals and provided one assist in that time, attracting the attention of both the Gunners and the Bees.

As reported by TMW, Brentford and Bologna have been in close contact and a deal for Hickey is on the verge of being agreed on the basis of around €20m. Arsenal have seemingly set their focus on other targets and pulled out from the race.

Bologna signed the 20-year-old Scottish left back from Hearts of Midlothian in September 2020 in a deal worth around €1.7m. Coach Mihajlovic was not afraid to give Hickey first team football and he quickly developed into one of the most exciting young full backs in Serie A.
