"In the summer we were clear from the beginning: certain considerations of ours were off the market and [ended up] being out of time and we didn't want to be victims of a certain kind of blackmail," Branca said.
"We put our confidence into this group and Benitez understood that perfectly. In January we will try and find a solution to the inconvenience presented by Walter Samuel's injury and nothing else, because if we are all healthy, then we are fine as we are."
Asked about the atmosphere in and around the Inter camp, Branca said: "What strikes me the most is the dissatisfaction, which is typical of teams who are used to winning and then go through moments like the one Inter are living.
"I remember Samuel, someone who never speaks, saying during the interval of the Champions League Final in Madrid that it was only half-time and he wanted the trophy on the plane and then back at home. It was a gesture of humility, which many of the players shared.
"The Club World Cup is an important exam and we are all under exam, but who wouldn't take this exam. The thought of disappointment mustn't cross our mind."
