The former Manchester City youth returned to Spain in January 2019 but moved to Milan to find regular playing time and feels he has arrived at a ‘very big club’.

“It’s true that I had other offers, but Milan are a large club and was on a winning streak after the quarantine, they reached Europe,” he told Efe.

“In the end, they’re Milan. I didn’t have to think about it because it’s a very big club.”

Brahim helped Milan reach the group stages of the Europa League with a play-off win against Rio Ave, when the Rossoneri triumphed after an epic penalty shoot-out to advance.

“It’s the longest game I have ever played,” he said and laughed. “In the end it was incredibly important to advance and enter the group stage.

“We are Milan and we must be there. Big teams, as they say, must win in every way.”

The Spain Under-21 international said he will join Theo Hernandez, who vowed to dye his hair in Rossoneri colours if Milan qualify for the Champions League.

“I don’t know what to promise, I’ll copy him. We’ll take a selfie! We need to continue to work, we have a young group with some experienced players who help us, we can do it.

“The hair? Why not? I’ll follow Theo if necessary, I have no problem in doing so, even if I’m a bit shy. He enjoys these things more than me.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned from coronavirus in time to face Inter on October 17 and Brahim said he has already received ‘excellent advice’ from the veteran.

“He’s a great man,” the youngster added. “Since I arrived, he has given me excellent advice. As a player we already see what he is, he continues to make a difference on the pitch."
