Milan forward Brahim Diaz revealed he played ‘a lot’ of futsal when he was younger. ‘It’s the perfect training to move quickly in tight spaces’.

The 22-year-old has been given a more important role ever since Hakan Calhanoglu left the Rossoneri and has contributed four goals in 12 competitive games this season.

Diaz spoke to El Pais ahead of the big game against Atletico Madrid in his homeland on Wednesday night and revealed he used to play futsal when he grew up.

“When I was little, I liked futsal a lot,” Brahim said. “It’s the perfect training to move quickly in tight spaces and to try some plays.”

Futsal is a more technical game, and the youngster was asked if he prefers a successful trick or dummy over scoring a goal.

“No, no,” he replied. “Scoring and helping the team win is the best. But on the other hand, you can’t overlook the magic that so many different tricks, like the roulette and a bicycle kick, have.

“People enjoy seeing these things.”
