Milan forward Brahim Diaz said veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘is like an older brother’ and revealed the Swede gives him ‘confidence’ to perform at the Rossoneri.

Diaz returned to Milanello on a two-year loan from Real Madrid this summer and spoke to AS ahead of the big game against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The Spanish attacking midfielder was asked about the impact of Ibrahimovic at San Siro and the 22-year-old, who scored in the first European match against Liverpool and has contributed three goals in six Serie A games this term, praised his teammate.

“He’s like an older brother,” Diaz told AS. “He always demands the maximum, but then he gives you great advice.

“He shows great affection for me, and this gives me confidence. He always makes the difference, whether he plays or not. Having him in the team is a plus.

“He’s still very strong and he shows it in every training session.”

Ibrahimovic has been ruled out against Atletico Madrid, still struggling with an Achilles tendon injury.

  1. I like Ibra but this talk of his leadership, mentor, big brother, etc….i’ve had enough. We need him on the pitch. Its getting ridiculous the amount of injuries, knocks, niggles.
