Brahim Diaz assures Milan are targeting the Serie A title this season, thanks coach Stefano Pioli for ‘helping me to grow’ and reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic ‘loves my style of football.’

The Spain international is on a two-year loan from Real Madrid with option to buy and counter-option, having already impressed at San Siro last season.

The Rossoneri finished second in Serie A and Brahim Diaz warns they are aiming higher this time around.

“We have started very well and the Scudetto is an objective,” he told Radio Marca.

“Let us not forget that we are Milan. We’ve got to take it one game at a time, knowing this is a very competitive league, and we are in there. It’s a very united group, everyone gives their contribution.”

They have started out with 19 points from an available 21 in seven Serie A rounds and remain unbeaten.

Brahim Diaz has come forward in leaps and bounds over the last 18 months and he credits Pioli for much of it.

“Pioli really helped me to grow. His spirit in the locker room, his passion for football and the way he sees the game, it all fits really well with the players at his disposal. I have only good things to say about him,” continued Brahim Diaz.

“We love to keep the ball and go on the attack quickly. When you have that consistency, you feel more confident and physically secure too.

“I am trying to get into the box more, and my goals and assists statistics are both improving. I can see the spaces more, and being two-footed allows me to get away from defenders on either side. I like having the ball at my feet and taking men on.

“I think it’s innate that I’m two-footed, as I remember when I was four or five years old that I loved having the ball at my feet.”

It is impossible to play at Milan and not learn from the legend Ibrahimovic, even if injuries have kept him largely on the sidelines this season.

“He was the first person I met in the Milan locker room. He’s a leader both on and off the field. He loves my style of football.”
