Brahim Diaz saw Milan dominate Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano in the Champions League. ‘We played great football and won almost every duel on the pitch.’

The game was finally decided by a Junior Messias header on Franck Kessie’s cross, which keeps the Rossoneri’s hopes of reaching the Round of 16 still alive.

“I think we played a great game, the kind we know how to play,” said Brahim Diaz in his press conference.

“We deserved the victory by playing great football. Now we have to look ahead to the final match and will see what happens. We’re on home turf against Liverpool, we know how good they are, but we want to win.”

Atletico Madrid have for the first time in their history suffered back-to-back Champions League home defeats.

“I think Atleti are a very strong team with many champions in the squad, but we went out there tonight to play football and we achieved it.”

There was a very big travelling party of Milan supporters in Madrid and in the final minutes only they could be heard in the stands.

“It sounded like San Siro,” grinned Brahim Diaz. “I think we made Atletico Madrid play badly, because we won almost every duel on the pitch.”
