Brahim Diaz leaves Anfield feeling ‘angry, because we could’ve won here’ after a 3-2 Champions League defeat to Liverpool.

It was a topsy-turvy match, as the Reds dominated the opening half-hour, going 1-0 up through a deflected Trent Alexander Arnold effort and seeing Mike Maignan parry a Mohamed Salah penalty.

However, Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz scored in under two minutes to turn it around going into half-time.

“We didn’t start in the best way, they were very aggressive and strong. Then we brought out more of our quality and intensity to turn the game around,” Brahim Diaz told Sky Sport Italia.

Salah did equalise straight after the restart, before a Jordan Henderson scorcher on the half-volley.

“It’s a pity, as it’s hard to take the lead here and we had done that, but we conceded another two goals and lost the match,” added the Spaniard.

Atletico Madrid drew 0-0 with FC Porto in the other group game, so does Brahim Diaz think Milan can reach the Champions League knockout phase?

“Of course, we are Milan and we proved that we can challenge in the Champions League. I am angry because I feel like we could’ve won here, so yes, the result does make me angry.”

  1. It was the strangest game I have ever seen. Liverpool was completely superior first 40 min but then Milan made two attacks and scored twice. Pool could have scored 4-6 goals in the first half, but for some reason they didn’t. It’s really weird there isn’t any team who knows how to play against Liverpool. After all they don’t defend very well.

Napoli have done well against them overall. Though they blocked Liverpool’s full-backs from attacking, which seemed to nullify them. But they’re hard to stop when in full flow, and Serie A sides struggle against pacey teams.
