Brahim Diaz admits he has matured at Milan, but playing for Real Madrid has ‘always been’ his first choice.

The Spaniard spent three seasons on loan at Milan but has now returned to the Spanish capital, extending his contract until 2027.

He held a press conference in Madrid on Tuesday, joined by Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.

“The last three years at Milan were really useful. I’ve matured on and off the pitch,” said Brahim, as quoted by Marca.

“You’ll see a Brahim with a big desire to triumph in Madrid. That’s why I am back, to win in the best club in the World.

“Expectations were high, we gave joy to Milan fans,” he continued.

“The last time I was here I was a kid, now I have played more games, also in the Champions League and this has made me more mature.

“I am here now. I tried to give my best at Milan and now I have this opportunity. It’s always been my first choice, where I’ve always wanted to play.”

Brahim scored 18 goals in 124 appearances with Milan, winning the title in 2021-22 and reaching the Champions League semis this season.

He was instrumental to the Rossoneri’s European run, scoring a goal in the Round of 16 against Tottenham.

The 23-year-old has already scored two goals in 21 matches with Real Madrid, where he played from January 2019 until the summer of 2020 when he joined the Rossoneri on an initial one-year loan deal.

The Serie A giants extended his loan at the club by two more years in the summer of 2021 after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in almost a decade.
