There is bad news for Roma, as Bournemouth have decided not to take up their €15m option to buy Matias Vina outright.

The 25-year-old Uruguay international had moved to England on loan in January at a cost of €750,000 with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

It was hoped that would be taken up after his two goals in 12 Premier League matches for the Cherries.

However, today the Premier League side confirmed it was not going to activate that option, so Vina will return to Roma over the summer.

He was purchased from Palmeiras in 2021 for €13m and proved a rather costly flop at left-back, losing his place in the side to Nicola Zalewski.

The 25-year-old has made 44 competitive appearances for Roma, contributing two assists.

Roma have to balance the books by June 30 and were counting on the €15m from Bournemouth, so now must find another alternative solution for Vina.
