Lille defender Sven Botman has reportedly decided to snub a move to Newcastle United, joining Milan at the end of the season.

The Dutch defender had been chased by both the Rossoneri and the Magpies during the January transfer window, but Lille refused to sell their defender in the middle of the campaign. However, just after the end of the January window, Botman revealed that he felt ready for a new challenge, suggesting he would leave the club at the end of the season.

Botman ‘desperately wants’ Newcastle move, but agreed Milan terms

His entourage met Milan in February, reaching a verbal agreement with the Serie A giants, while Newcastle director Amanda Staveley said last week that the 22-year-old ‘desperately wanted’ to join the Magpies.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, this is not the case as the defender has snubbed one last offer received from England, saying that he wants to join Milan at the end of the season. The Rossoneri must hold talks with Lille and reach an agreement with the defending Ligue 1 champions who are reportedly looking for a sale in the region of €40m. Botman is pushing to make the deal happen.
