Lille defender Sven Botman has reportedly rejected a move to Newcastle and is keen to join Milan in January.

The 21-year-old is the Rossoneri’s priority target to replace the injured Simon Kjaer, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a severe knee injury.

Newcastle are also interested in securing his services, but according to The Times, the Dutch defender is unwilling to join the Magpies and has rejected an offer from St. James’ Park.

Calciomercato.com reports Botman wants to join Milan and talks between the Rossoneri and the French club ongoing.

Who is Milan’s latest transfer target Botman?

Lille want €30m for their star defender, but the Serie A giants are unwilling to offer as much.

Paolo Maldini is trying to get the player on an initial loan deal with an option or obligation to buy for a fee lower than €30m.

It’s the same formula that the Rossoneri used to sign Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea one year ago.

The English defender eventually moved to San Siro on a permanent €25m move last summer.

  1. Well this news is not surprising, he is a smart fellow, it would be a bad move for him, currently Newcastle are in a relegation dog fight, they might not survive, and apart from that moving to Newcastle would be a very big mistake for him both in tactical and technical terms.
People and players need to understand money is not everything, u need to study a move before u jump into it.
Milan is a far better club in terms of history and prestige, and a project that will soon bear fruit….

  2. Milan are a tin pot nothing club, got no money to bid lol and he hasn’t rejected Newcastle, he’d much rather play for Newcastle in the glorious Premier league rather than some old past it tin pot club in Italy. Lille rejected £30 million. You haven’t got £30 million. They want £50 million. You don’t have £50 million. Clowns.

  3. lol, I like NU, but some of their fans truly make an exhibition of themselves. Milan is the tinpot club eh… slightly dubious remark.

The glorious PL… which will again be easily won by the UAE. Hmmmmmm. I’m afraid the Magpies won’t be in the ‘glorious PL’ next season anyway. Imagine being owned by the Saudi government… Jesus.

  4. NUFC fans talking big because they’ve got Saudi blood money, one thing I would love to ask the new NUFC owners is, where they smoking pure opium before they settled for a nothing club like the Magpies, like seriously who TF is Newcastle United anyways.

  5. Lol are we even talking about new castle.. granted you had Alan shearer but that’s pretty much innt?

You are absolutely nothing compared to Milan

  6. Newcastle United are the most disgusting club in world football. Just look at how fat their fan base is. They must survive (until they have a heart attack at 40) on a diet of sausage rolls.

  7. Nufc your delusional and your opinion is as small as Newcastles trophy cabinet. Last time I looked we were in the champions league, in 2nd position in the league and have 7 European cups in our museum /trophy room. Are team is not what is was but we have a young exciting team that dwarfs your squad in value by 300/400 million. And our owners are responsible with a new stadium on the horizon. How’s yours PET? A Lack of vision and human rights. Your a disgrace taking these people’s money. Maybe we’re see you in the champions league in 5/10 years and even then we’ll smash you. Stick that in your deep fried Mars bar.

  8. Note to Football Italia:
If you need more comments on your threads, just pretend to talk trash by a fan of an English club, no matter how ludicrous it sounds. Case & Point.

  9. Quick opener; Botman has not rejected Newcastle at all, in face it has been said that he is exited over the Newcastle project.
Ok so now lets just say this, I’m a Newcastle fan. I will say I’m pretty healthy and couldn’t bear the idea of deep fried mars bars (actually a Scottish thing) or sustain myself with sausage rolls, just saying.

Also the hatred towards Newcastle is to be expected as we are the richest sporting club by far.

To call it “Saudi blood money” is redundant as the Saudis have also bought shares in companies like Disney and formula 1, not to mention the strong relationship with our own government to which there was nothing said, not even a whimper about these dealings.

Newcastle are not even on the radar of inter Milan right now, but they will be, we are coming like it or not, it’s just inevitable.

Newcastle have dealt with years of extreme hardship with mike Ashley pretending to check his pockets like some do with the homeless..no he didn’t have any spare change! And so everyone felt safe with little old crappy Newcastle finishing anywhere between 12th and 17th in the league with the odd relegation flirtation, and just knowing our place.

As a Newcastle fan, i’m not going to blast inter, lets face it they have done very well in recent years and we have been horrendous under Ashley and bruce etc etc.

So I don’t know why everyone is getting so upset! lets all calm down and have a sausage roll kebab Stottie and hit the toon together haha

  10. Some just can’t seem to believe players actually do have preferences and tradition and history still are key factors to prefer one club to another. I can perfectly imagine Botman prefers a move to Milan and Italy instead of NUFC and England. And I’m not a fan of any of the clubs.
That being said, if Milan fail to set up a construction to fabric a move; I don’t think Botman will be all too sad too long joining the project at Newcastle. The paycheck won’t make that big of a difference. And after a couple of seasons in the rain, still can lure the sun.
