Botman confirms Milan ‘working on’ transfer

Sven Botman explained that Milan are still working to complete a deal and sign him from Lille.

The 22-year-old Dutch centre back has been linked with the Rossoneri for months now and it seems like they’re finally close to getting the deal across the line, with the player being Milan’s top target to reinforce their defence.

Speaking to ESPN.nl from the Dutch national team’s training camp, Botman provided an update regarding his possible move to Milan.

“We are working on it. It’s difficult for me to get away from things at the moment, I hear something about this situation almost every day. Things are progressing and I hope there will be more clarity before the pre-season training camp starts.”

The 22-year-old Botman had a decent campaign for Lille in their comedown season following their Ligue 1 success, making 32 appearances across all competitions. He looks to be a perfect fit for Stefano Pioli’s squad in Milan, being good with the ball at his feet and having strong defensive positioning.

It’s likely that the Dutch defender will cost around €25-30m and will be offered a contract worth around €3m net per season.
