Cristian Chivu could link up with former Inter boss Roberto Mancini at Manchester City once this season comes to an end.

The Romanian's future at San Siro is in doubt given that his contract expires in June 2012 and talks regarding a renewal have not begun.

Chivu and his agent have given Inter until December to make contact, but they'll then start looking for a new club should the Nerazzurri's silence remain.

"The fact that he may be a free agent in six months makes Chivu a very interesting player for all clubs, including Manchester City," stated Mancini.

Chivu, 31-years-old, worked with Mancini at San Siro following his 2007 switch from Roma.

He has recently voiced his frustration at continually being used as a left-back for Inter, rather than in his preferred centre-back position.
