Palermo have rejected speculation that they are pondering a January bid for Marco Borriello of Roma.

“There hasn’t been any interest in him from us and there will never be any interest,” Rosanero President Maurizio Zamparini told Roma Giallorossa.

“He’s an appetising player, but the principal problem is that he is outside of our price range when it comes to his wages.”

The Italian international will consider his future after Christmas given that he doesn’t feature too heavily in the plans of Roma boss Luis Enrique.

The 29-year-old has appeared in just six Serie A games so far this term and he has started in only two of those.

Borriello joined Roma in the summer of 2010 on a loan deal from Milan, but on the understanding that they would sign him outright a year later.

The capital outfit did just that when they handed over €10m for the former Sampdoria and Genoa centre-forward.

Borriello has been linked with January moves to Genoa and Paris Saint-Germain.
