Marco Borriello has been diagnosed with a facial injury, but the Roma star will be able to face Milan next week with a protective mask.

The striker required treatment during today's 1-0 win over Bari, but was able to carry on the game.

It did not seem to be anything more than a knock, but a statement released by the club this evening confirmed X-Rays found a different story.

“Borriello has fractured the anterior wall of the right maxillary sinus,” read the medical report.

It did not seem to be anything more than a knock, but a statement released by the club this evening confirmed X-Rays found a different story.

“Borriello has fractured the anterior wall of the right maxillary sinus,” read the medical report.

This is an area just under the eye and cheekbone. “The lesion will be corrected surgically over the Christmas break, allowing the player to continue his activity.”

This means Borriello will be able to face his former club Milan next weekend with the aid of a protective mask.
