Marco Borriello says he is happy to be back at former club Genoa – a year after he almost made the same move.
The striker joined the Marassi outfit for the second time in his career after a transfer deadline day agreement was reached with Roma.
“I should have come here last year,” he noted. “It was all done on August 30, then, on the morning of August 31, Roma took me off the transfer market…”

Borriello was again made available for transfer this summer after Juventus” data-scaytid=”5″>Juventus opted to not make his six-month loan spell permanent.
“I’ve been paying the price for signing a five-year deal with Roma while the Sensi family still owned the team,” he continued.
“A year later, the new owners arrived with a new Coach, and I’ve been forced to change teams.
“I scored my goals at Roma when I played with regularity, but I wasn’t part of the plans for Luis Enrique or Zdenek Zeman.
“And it wasn’t easy to sign me during these economical times because of the costs involved.”
Borriello, now 30, first caught the eye during the 2007-08 season at Genoa when he scored 19 goals in 35 League games.
“I hope to score at least 15 goals, but I have no goal bonus in my contract,” he added. “At this point of my career, this club can help to re-launch me.”
Borriello scored just two goals in 13 games for Juventus following his 2012 January switch.
