It seems highly unlikely that the Bianconeri will take up their option to buy the 30-year-old on a permanent basis.
“For now we don’t know where Borriello will play next season. We will calmly choose the best option along with Roma,” Tiberio Cavalieri told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the moment there have not been any big moves for forwards in Serie A, but I don’t think he is part of Roma’s project.”
Borriello has been linked with Fiorentina and a return to Genoa, where he had the most successful spell of his career.
“Many teams are interested, including Fiorentina, but it is a complex situation.”
