Borja Valero returned to Fiorentina after three seasons with Inter and hopes to help the Viola climb the table after a disappointing start to the season.

“My personal targets are the same as the team’s,” Borja Valero told Viola TV. “I’m not putting any personal goals before that.

“I want to do my best to help the team achieve its targets. Hopefully we can work our way up the table, but to do that we need to perform on the pitch.”

The 35-year-old believes Fiorentina have a ‘well-balanced squad’, despite having lost two out of the three opening games.

“I think we have a well-balanced squad, with lots of good young players and the experienced ones to help them develop.”

The Spanish midfielder has joined Franck Ribery at the Artemio Franchi and praised the French winger, saying he can ‘still learn’ form the former Bayern Munich star.

“Regardless of his experience and his age, Ribery is still a world-class player. He has shown that for many years, at Bayern Munich and for France.

“He’s one of a kind and we are lucky we are able to see him in action here. I’ll try to learn everything I can from him.

“Because you can still learn from the best even at my age.”
