Bonuses and buyout for Pjanic

Miralem Pjanic’s new contract with Roma reportedly has bonuses in place to boost his earnings and a buyout clause.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international yesterday ended months of speculation over his future with the Giallorossi by committing to a new four-year contract.

Whilst reports were that a previous sticking point in negotiations was an apparent wage demand of €4m, rumours are that Pjanic’s new terms agreed see a compromise reached.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international yesterday ended months of speculation over his future with the Giallorossi by committing to a new four-year contract.

Whilst reports were that a previous sticking point in negotiations was an apparent wage demand of €4m, rumours are that Pjanic’s new terms agreed see a compromise reached.

It is believed that the 24-year-old’s new deal has increased his basic rate by €800,000 a year to €2.9m, but that a series of bonus clauses have been included to potentially push that up further to his intended €4m target.

Meanwhile, Il Tempo also report that a buyout clause has been inserted into the agreement, although the level this has been set at remains unclear at this stage.

Speculation during negotiations was that Pjanic and his agents were pushing for a €30m release fee.
