Leonardo Bonucci is due to make his 100th appearance in the Italy jersey when facing Northern Ireland this evening.

The opening 2022 World Cup qualifier kicks off at 19.45 GMT at the Stadio Tardini in Parma.

Juventus defender Bonucci is expected to start alongside his Bianconeri teammate Giorgio Chiellini.

It’s a very special game, as the 33-year-old will mark his 100th senior cap.

He made his debut just over 11 years ago, during a 0-0 draw with Cameroon under the guidance of coach Marcello Lippi, played on March 3, 2010.

Bonucci was then aged 22 years and 10 months.

Wearing the Azzurri jersey, he has scored seven goals, provided six assists and received one red card in 99 matches.

That dismissal was for a last man foul during a 1-0 win away to Malta in the European Qualifiers on October 13, 2014.
